RICHMOND, Va – After a series of record forest fires this spring, the Virginia Department of Forestry has lifted a temporary burn ban as of midnight Tuesday morning.
To get residents thinking about planning in case of a natural disaster, the annual "Hurricane Expo" will be held Saturday in the Tractor Supply parking lot.
The expo is sponsored by the Gloucester Department of Emergency Services. The Gloucester Sheriff's Office mobile command post unit and the Abingdon and Gloucester Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squads are also participating.
The fire departments will have on site pumper engines, a Zodiac raft boat, an all-terrain "Gator," and an aerial tower truck. Light refreshments will be provided by Gloucester Community Emergency Response Team members.
The volunteers and county employees will have information on hand for residents about remaining safe during a natural disaster.
